| A martingale
collar does not open up, the way a
traditional buckle collar does, but instead
slips over the dog’s head. The leash attaches to
a ring on the small loop. When the leash pulls,
the
smaller loop pulls taught, closing the collar so
that it will not slip off. The beauty of this
design is that while the collar can be pulled
snug enough to contain escape artists and large-
necked / small-headed dogs like greyhounds and
pugs, it does not cinch up so much that it
chokes the dog – hence it is also known as a
limited slip collar. Martingale collars are not
training collars, they are just another option
in everyday doggy neck-wear. I think these
collars are great - they are much more secure
for my boy who loves to back out of his regular
collars. Check out our selection of beautiful
