These days, terms like ‘natural’ are used to
sell a lot of different products. With so much
use, the meaning of the word can
get a bit muddied, so For Other Living Things
would like to explain what we mean when we say
we offer a selection of ‘natural pet
products’.
To us, natural means using biologically
occurring materials and working in harmony
with the environment. For Other Living Things
offers many products that are made from
sustainable resources grown without the use of
artificial chemicals, like our Bunny
Buddies made with organic cotton.
We like to take it a little farther than
environmental impact though. For Other Living
Things doesn’t forget that your pet is also part
of nature, so our products are carefully
selected to be free of harmful substances. We
searched far and wide to find chewable small
animal toys and accessories, like our edible toys and cage mats, that are
produced and shipped without the use of
pesticides or fumigants. Our pet food and treats
are made without artificial colors or chemical
preservatives such as BHA, BHT,or Ethoxyquin. We
proudly list the ingredients in all of our food
and treats.
Of course, humans are also natural beings who
deserve to be treated with care and
consideration, and we at For Other Living Things
love products that bear this in mind. Shredde

from a sustainable resource, palm leaf, and
hand woven by villagers in Asia, and your
support of their product allows the villagers to
use a traditional handicraft to support their
time-honored way of life.
Living and acting in harmony with nature is
so important to us that when we find a product
that really truly benefits the world, we just
want to share it with everybody. So when we
discovered Song Bird coffees, we
just had to carry them, even though it’s not a
pet product. The coffee itself is produced
organically and shade grown which preserves
trees and therefore animal habitat. The more
widely used, higher yield producing, sun grown
coffee plants have contributed to tropical
deforestation as land is cleared for planting
feilds. The farmers who act as such gracious
custodians of the land are rewarded by earning a
living wage - some of the varieties even carry
the Fair Trade certification. To sweeten the
deal even more, 15 cents of every package sold
goes
directly to non-profit birding organizations.

says natural pet products, we aren’t just paying
lip service to the idea. We really do take the
time to consider the impact a product will have
on the environment, your pet, and all the living
inhabitants of this planet.
